Playing the Globe: Romeo and Juliet
‘Players in the Globe have just that – playfulness, ready to respond to what comes their way. It is a space that changes with the weather and the time of day, and its players need to be as alive as the space’
– Joanne Howarth. Globe Faculty, Actor and Director.
Bring the Globe into your home with this rigorous introduction to the principles of performance at the Globe. Discover what it means to be ‘as alive as the space’ by exploring the relationship between body, text and space. Even when that space is your living room or kitchen.
Start with a virtual tour of the Globe Theatre, led by our expert Globe faculty, followed by 90 minutes of collaborative and playful exercises.
This workshop will focus on scenes from Romeo and Juliet – we recommend you read or re-read the play, ahead of the workshop, and we will send you some extracts in advance to become familiar with.
