Bring Romeo and Juliet to life in this two-hour practical and interactive online workshop, designed for the over 12s.
This event uses a range of activities and games designed to draw out elements of the play’s language, characters and themes. The session is designed for young people with an interest in Drama or English Literature and is an engaging way to enhance the study of Shakespeare. No previous experience is required, just a desire to jump in and enjoy exploring one of his most famous tales.
A violent street brawl between their rival families is the prelude to Romeo’s first encounter with Juliet. Despite this, and the fact that Juliet has been promised to another man in marriage, they fall in love. But any plans for their future happiness are cruelly destroyed by renewed violence between the two families – and while the adults remain almost comically preoccupied with their own affairs, among their children a hidden tragedy begins to unfold…
Workshops will be led by one of the Globe’s highly experienced educational practitioners who include actors, teachers and directors. These extended workshops run over two hours, and offer an extensive opportunity for young people to explore the text in depth and learn from the Globe team.
Please note that these workshops are designed for young people aged 12+, but tickets must be purchased by someone 18+. It is a condition of sale that an adult must be available within the household for the full running time of the workshop. Price is per household so may include siblings aged 12+ in the same house.
