The Studio at Shakespeare’s Globe (2020)

Online courses, workshops, coaching and events
for professional actors registered with The Studio

  25 August – 30 September 2020          AT HOME

Online courses, workshops, coaching and events for professional actors registered with The Studio. Although we cannot currently deliver any courses at Shakespeare’s Globe, our full online programme is available now.

Workshops and courses are led by our talented Globe faculty who have extensive experience of training actors in our spaces, many of whom have performed or created work in our playhouses professionally. Their practice is informed by the fundamental principles of performance in the Globe Theatre and, through this programme, is shared with the creative community in a respectful, safe and supportive space.

Register with The Studio to be the first to hear about future online courses and courses that will take place at the Globe.

PLAYING THE GLOBE: STAGE ONE

Stage One courses provide an introduction to the work of The Studio and to Globe Performance Practice for participants who have no previous experience of learning or working at the Globe.

These classes are delivered online and will focus on approaches to performing in the Globe space, playfully exploring how the relationship between action, audience and architecture can unlock the versatility of Shakespeare’s words.

PLAYING THE GLOBE: STAGE TWO

Our online Stage Two classes assume that participants have had some previous exposure to the principles of performance in the Globe Theatre or Sam Wanamaker Playhouse.

We strongly recommend that you take an online Stage One Studio class before booking a Stage Two class, unless you have participated in our formal education programme or have previously performed at the Globe.

SMALL GROUP COACHING

Open to all, regardless of previous Globe experience, our online Small Group Coaching sessions include a maximum of four people and you will be given individual feedback on a speech that you present.

For some sessions, we have chosen the speeches – perfect if you are looking for inspiration for a new audition speech or want to try something new. Or you can book one of our ‘Bring Your Own’ sessions to receive feedback on a Shakespeare speech of your choice.

LARGE GROUP COACHING

In our online Large Group Coaching sessions Globe actors, supported by our voice and movement faculty will demonstrate how to how approach a speech from textual, physical and vocal perspectives.

Each session will be led by a Globe actor who has performed the speech in one of our theatre seasons. Please note that large group coaching sessions are open to all, regardless of previous Globe experience.
