Everything you need to know to plan your visit to Shakespeare’s Globe

Shakespeare’s Globe is located on the bank of the River Thames, London (UK), in the Bankside Cultural Quarter. Our address is 21 New Globe Walk, SE1 9DT.

Open air

We are a roofless (open air) theatre – tours and events go ahead in all conditions so dress for the weather! Blanket and cushion hire is currently unavailable so if you are attending a performance, you are welcome to bring your own.

Covid-19 guidance

Different performances and tours may follow different formats and have specific guidance at this time. Before visiting us, please make sure you read any pre-visit emails we have sent you and our safety measures page: both the general guidance and the information specific to your event-type.

Once you have pre-booked your ticket for any on-site activity, we will communicate with you via email to prepare you for your visit. If there is a change in UK Government guidelines which requires us to cancel an event, we will contact you to offer you a credit voucher or refund.

Photography and video recording is not permitted during workshops, performances or screenings. Video recording is not permitted on a guided tour and photography may be restricted at certain times.

An outdoor cabinet opens and inside is merchandise including red cushions and tote bags

Whilst our main indoor Shop remains closed, our Online Shop is open and so is our Pop-Up Shop in the Globe Theatre. The Pop-Up Shop is open each weekend from 10.00am until 5.00pm. Located on the piazza, it is open for anyone who holds a ticket for a Globe Theatre tour or performance.

We also have a click and collect service available – pre-order from the online shop and collect in the Pop-Up!

At this time, when many of our activities are still on hold, some of our website pages have been temporarily archived.

After the most challenging year in our charity’s history, we still need our supporters to help us recover.
