SAM WANAMAKER PLAYHOUSE

WHEELCHAIR USERS

Both of our theatres and our guided tours are wheelchair accessible.

The lift to the theatres is to the right of the Welcome Desk.

Wheelchair access in The Globe

There are 2 positions available in The Globe: A platform in the Yard and the Boxes in the Middle Gallery.

The wheelchair platform in the yard is 1200 mm by 1200 mm in size:

A corrugated metal platform raised off a tarmac floor with a set of stairs in the background behind it. The square is surrounded by handrails on every side except the right, which has a wheelchair ramp leading into it.

Globe yard platform before show

Globe yard platform during show

The platform with a ramp entrance elevates the user sufficiently, so they can clearly watch the show. Users can enjoy the immersive experience of our performances as a ‘Groundling’.

Please note the ramp is exposed to the elements as we are an open air theatre.

Wheelchair access in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse

Our wheelchair position in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse is located in Box A of the Lower Gallery.

It is accessed by a door on the piazza level.

The companion seat is available on the left or right side of the wheelchair user space.
