This one-day online symposium gathers experts, activists and theatre practitioners in a vital exploration of intersectionality, women, and the precarity of power. We will consider these questions and more in the context of Shakespeare’s works and in our world.
The event will be of particular interest to students, academics, teachers, and scholars but is open to all.
Organised by the Education department at Shakespeare’s Globe, this event will play host to internationally renowned speakers who will ask some of the most urgent questions of our day in light of Elizabethan sexual politics. The #MeToo and TimesUp movements will form part of our discussion as we think about the position of women in Shakespeare’s plays.

All the symposium sessions will take place on Zoom. Registration covers one device joining.
Once you have registered your place, you will be emailed the day before the event with the links to join the sessions.
You will need access to a reliable internet connection and be able to join a Zoom meeting.
Please ensure you are in the Zoom waiting room five minutes prior to the event start time. The event takes place in real time only with no ‘catch up’ options.
No recording or photography of any kind is permitted during the symposium.
