Be transported back to Shakespeare’s London, discover the magic of stagecraft, and explore the sights of Southwark’s Bankside area – London’s original theatre district – on Shakespeare’s Walking Tour.

Venturing out onto the streets of Bankside, our expert Guides bring to life thrilling stories of the area around Shakespeare’s Globe including Thameside ferrymen, gruesome animal-baiting sports, and the rise of one of Elizabethan London’s original playhouses, The Rose, where it is believed that some of Shakespeare’s earliest plays were first performed.

In our brand-new, walk-through exhibition space, immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and secrets of Shakespeare’s London, travelling through over 400 years of fascinating history. You’ll be able to relive some of our most iconic shows with seasonally curated displays, and even have the chance to get ready for the stage yourself with interactive costumes and props.

All tours are in English and suitable for all ages. Information sheets are available in a number of languages. The Walking Tour takes place outside, on the streets of London, so please dress for the weather.

This is a Walking Tour of the Bankside area and does not include a visit to the Globe Theatre.
